Rising Above The Perilous Time 2 Timothy 3:1-5 by Maxwell Ngoke

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

The Apostle  Paul was forewarning Timothy what the last days would be. You all can agree with me that in the days and time we are living in, there is an unprecedented increase of crime wave, rebellion, anarchy, killings in our streets and homes. We are seeing the high rate of occult activities, how evil is being validated and good is being looked at and ridiculed, all these things are from the pit of hell.

And as near the end of the age, the heart of humans will become harder against the will of God. Because of the intensifying turmoil that is going on in our world today, five among ten believers confess fear and discouragement.

In John 16:3, Jesus says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Eph. 6:10-11 says: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

  1. A complete surrender to the lordship of Jesus Christ. (James 4:7)
  2. Studying and practicing the Word of God. (Mathew  7:24-25)
  3. Praying and fasting.

Conclusion: “You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance…” 2 Timothy 3:10
