The Lord our Righteousness-Jeremiah 23:5-6

Jeremiah 23:5-6 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.  6 In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.”
nostra giustizia.”

The prophets were called by God to prophesy to the spiritual condition of the people (foretelling) but on occasion would prophesy to the future events (forth-telling). This is one of those occasions where Jeremiah prophesies about a coming king. There is no question that Jesus is the messianic fulfillment of this predictive prophecy.
Though the bloodline through Jehoiachin had been broken when the Jews were carried off to Babylon, Jeremiah said that God would raise up another king through the bloodline of David. Jeremiah said this king would reign wisely and do what was just. The name given to this coming king was: “The Lord Our Righteousness. ”According to 1 Corinthians 1:30 and 2 Corinthians 5:21, this exalted name applied only to Jesus Christ.
Within a few months, Judah would be taken into captivity but the promise of God through Jeremiah for the future king would remain in their heart. When we submit to Jesus Christ and ask for forgiveness of our sins, the promise of “The Lord Our Righteousness” through King Jesus Christ is applied to our life. This prophecy continues to be fulfilled every time someone calls on the name of the Lord.
Pray with me: Lord, in Your Word I see the forth-telling of Your coming as the Righteous King. I am grateful for this passage and other prophetic messages that prove that Jesus is the promised King.
